A Call To Fasting
Dear all,
When I was in my early teens we had an evangelist come for a revival. He pulled me aside and gave me a piece of advice. He said, "Steve if you ever need a spiritual refreshing and renewing the best way I know is a three day fast." Through the years this has been very effective in my having spiritual breakthroughs. I think it is an excellent way to show your flesh and the devil you are serious about your relationship with Jesus.
We would love to have everyone participate in this pre-CEJ fast though all may not participate in the way. I will explain later.
Don't participate out of duty. The only reason to do this is because you believe that this discipline can and will help you draw closer to Jesus and that is what you most desire.
How is that closeness accomplished? Simply this. When you fast for a designated purpose and reason you make yourself more spiritually sensitive. You quiet the voice of the flesh and the world and you strengthen the voice of the Spirit. That is why fasting is always coupled with prayer to Jesus. You want to make a strong connection to the Holy Spirit so Jesus can encourage, convict, correct, impart and instruct during this time of consecration. During this time make prayer, evangelism and witnessing a priority.
Suggested Fast:
Three day (72 hrs) no food - water only
Three day (72 hrs) no food - water, juice, clear broth
One of the ones above but only two days - one day on, one day off, one day on.
The Bishop's call is that everyone do one of the fasts above or at the least a portion of one of one of them. Fasting is a humbling experience. Let us humble ourselves, purifying our spirits, and calling on the name of Jesus for a mighty visitation of His Spirit during SOS and CEJ.

Good Reports - 4th February 2009
I got good reports from New York on Tuesday, February 3. The Oncologist who ordered the body scan said, "It is a good report. There are five tiny (millimeters) pinpoints that may or may not be a problem." He said he wants to keep a close watch on them but that for now was pleased with the result.
