Dear Friends of the Willoughby Family, Tabernacle of Joy and the Filipino Joy Fellowship,

This week on Friday, Bro. Willoughby had a brain MRI and a blood test. The blood test gave good results showing liver and kidney functions as normal. The brain MRI gave mixed results. The small tumor at the back of the brain hasn’t changed in over one year, and the doctor said that he considered it to be dead.

The tumor at the top of the brain, which lies between the two hemispheres, on its right side had decreased swelling and was lighter in color, indicating it to be less dense. However there was considerable swelling in the left hemisphere out from the tumor that is a new development. The doctor doesn’t think the swelling is due to tumor growth and placed Bro. Willoughby on a strong daily steroid dose with the idea of reducing the swelling, hoping this will allow restored movement to the left arm and leg. In two weeks, the doctor will reassess Bro. Willoughby’s progress and response to this treatment. Because the MRI showed growth in two of the tumors in his chest, Bro. Willoughby will be taking an increased dose of oral chemo until his next MRI and CT scan, in two months. If there is no response to the oral chemo, the doctor stated that then intravenous chemo is the only remaining option. Intravenous chemo is not something Bro. Willoughby intends to take.

Bro. Willoughby requests that prayers be made that his faith doesn’t fail as he waits for the restoration that he believes will come at any time. 14 months ago, the doctor’s said there was no cure for this cancer; and was given three to nine months to live therefore, Bro. Willoughby is already a miracle.

He requests these prayer points in addition to any the Lord would have you pray:

  •  That every cancer cell be cut off from its life source, and that his immune system will not allow any tumor growths to live in his body,
  • That all swelling will vanish and all tumors dissolve and completely disappear,
  • That mobility return to his left arm and leg,
  • That the steroids will not prevent sleep, and that
  • God’s peace will continue to abide in the home and hearts of the Willoughby family.

Thank you for your prayers and support,

Lionel Dabbs, on behalf of Bishop Willoughby

  • Bro. Willoughby, I have prayed for you earnestly from time to time whenever the Lord leaded me. I trust that the Lord will do the great thing and more in you. Prayer never failed. We love and appreciate you.

I never forget the time that you were preaching in Thailand
for the General Conference. I interpreted for you. We all had a great time and the Lord richly blessed the Thai people. One of my friend received the Holy Ghost that morning. Praise the Lord!!

  • I prayed earnestly for Sis. Willoughby and have been praying earnestly for Bro. Willougby. Also for the children in the loss of their Mom and for them to stay true to the Lord even through this terrible time of trial. That they would not be bitter nor resentful for this terrible trial they have been walking through, but for God to prove Himself to them more each day. I would love to hear an up-to-date report on Bro. Willoughby. I fully expect a miracle in his body as a witness to his Dr. and to the many thousands of people who know of his illness. God is still on the throne. Blessings to all of you.
