The end of the world.
Is it true? When? and…how?
Movies have been made, scientists have done their research, philosophers have theorised about this subject. How and when is the question.
The disciples asked Jesus ‘What is the sign of thy coming and the end of the world?’ Jesus listed the signs (Matthew 24:1-14):
- Wars and rumours of wars
- Nations will rise against nations and kingdoms against kingdoms
- Offense and betrayal
- False teachers/prophets
- Iniquity will abound
- Love will wax cold
We can identify with many of these signs in our world today. Turn on the news and every other report is one of the result of the degradation and corruption of the human nature without God. Even nature is screaming the signs of the end. Mankind tries their best to predict and prevent but to no avail. Martyrdom has resurfaced in our time period of ethnic cleansing and conflict. In the name of Christ, false doctrine and prophets lead people away with doctrines that soothe the conscience rather than preach the message of power and demonstration, transforming lives by the saving grace and blood of Calvary. Hearts are led astray by other affections and love for Jesus becomes cold. The day is nearer than we think.
The bible was written for believers who would understand the seasons, who would with spiritual discernment see the signs and be sober and watchful for the return of their Lord, King and Savior Jesus Christ. We are sign watchers, not sign seekers. It is time to awake and be sober!
Things will not get better. The world as it falls into the hands of sin will only get darker and darker…
Jesus kept the greatest sign for the end of his list.
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matthew 24:14
There is a blessed hope of salvation. Jesus did not say that every person will be preached to, but he said every nation will be preached to. As of now, there are 212 nations and new territories around the world that has the gospel preached to from the records of United Pentecostal Church International alone. In the last 14 years, 66 new nations and territories have been preached to. How many nations and territories are there left? A mere 14. How long will it take for these nations to be reached? Again, sooner than we think.
The church of the living God — an army conquering and advancing to bring His kingdom on this earth — is the greatest sign of the end. There is hope amidst this turmoil and struggle. The church with its message, miracles, signs and wonders is the bright light shining in the darkness. While others fight and kill, people are being rescued and saved.
With the urgency of the times and the darkness of this world, God has also promised the last day church an anointing, boldness, spiritual gifts and supernatural armies that will equip the church for its mission. If you are part of the church of God, let this truth stir in you an urgency and desire to see this gospel reach as many people as grace allows and enlist.
